United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced an increase in visa application fees paid by immigrants into the country.
In a statement on Friday, Sunak said the amount paid for the state-funded National Health Service (NHS) by visa applicants by immigrants would increase significantly.
Sunak explained that the increment was appropriate and justified as these fees have not been increased recently.
The PM asserted that this move would have no effect on inflation because there would be no new borrowing or spending to fund the increases.
The results of the chairmanship election into the six area councils of the federal capital territory (FCT) held on Saturday have all been declared. Naija News reports that elections were held to fill vacancies for 62 councillorship and six chairmanship seats.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 14 political parties and 472 candidates participated in the polls.
The six area councils where elections held were Bwari, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali and Abuja Municipal Council (AMAC).
The Anambra Police Command has denied the arrest of a suspect who allegedly confessed that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 6 governorship election, Andy Uba, employed him as an assassin. Naija News reports that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in the state, DCP Aderemi Adeoye, made this known in a statement on Sunday.
He denied the alleged confession by a member of a killer squad that Uba purportedly hired.
