Unknown gunmen on attacked a police checkpoint in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Friday night, killing a mobile police officer, Jonathan Simon, while another was shot in the leg. According to report, the gunmen numbering about 6 ambushed the a police check point at about 9 p.m. through a nearby bush behind a government secondary school and started shooting at the police officers who were conducting a stop and search a few meters away from a mobile police barracks along Akwanga-Lafia.
