A jury in New York has convicted Nigeria-born lawyer and former Deeper Life Bible Church pastor, Ifeanyichukwu Eric Abakporo, on charges of fraud, and he could spend a maximum term of 30 years in prison when he is sentenced on November 12, 2013.
Abakporo was found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and bank fraud. The first and third charges each carry a maximum of 30 years in jail, while wire fraud carries a maximum of 20 years.

The Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has appointed a former Governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, to lead a delegation to the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, in Abuja on Monday. The President General o the organisation, Prof George Obiozor, announced the appointment in a statement on Saturday.
Obiozor also appointed the National Legal Adviser of the organisation, Barrister Joseph Ojobu and Chief Goddy Uwazurike as members of the delegation.
